Widikum Awareness Forum

The Widikum Awareness Forum have compiled a detailed brochure outlining some of the challenges facing the Widikum people in this modern times. This brochure is a precious working document for all sons, daughters and wives of Widikum. Its main objective includes the following:

  1. 1. To present in a photographic form the Widikum of today with its weaknesses and strengths in order to challenge the creative force that has for long remained dormant in us. We need to be proactive now.
  2. 2. To provide work for further research by specialists in the various domains briefly treated in this brochure (Education, Economic empowerment, Culture).
  3. 3. To lay a solid foundation for the consolidation of love, unity and solidarity among the people of the Widikum town, Widikum clan and the Widikum Ethnic Group. There is dire need for people of Widikum origin to rediscover their roots preserved jealously by nature at Eguni Oyimi near the village of Bamben over the centuries.

It is important for us to learn three key lessons from the work accomplished by the Widikum awareness forum. Firstly, that development can only be achieved by people who think, plan and act together. This brochure is the product of their vision. They must now act to transform their thoughts into concrete achievements. Secondly, that each generation prepares the next generation to continue the struggle for development until poverty, ignorance and disease are eradicated.

It is a continuous struggle. Finally, that we are responsible for our own destiny. We must therefore be competitive in order to survive. The following step by step approach has been proposed by the Widikum awareness forum in order to achieve the ambitions highlighted in this brochure (Ateh Awareness forum – Click to download):

  1. Step 1: Select what you want to achieve (project).
  2. Step 2: Carry out detailed studies to determine not only the cost but also the various partners concerned.
  3. Step 3: Discuss the studies with all the partners involved and repartition responsibilities.
  4. Step 4: Execute the project. Carry out regular evaluations
  5. Step 5: Celebrate the achievement of the project.

The participatory approach is highly recommended.

  • At this juncture, permit me to express my sincere gratitude to the following:
